National Park
South Dakota
There's nothing bad about these lands as their layered rock formations, dramatic landscapes and sand blasted spires create some of the most beautiful and geologically rich nature you can encounter. You can quite literally see hundreds of thousands of years of erosion, soil change and weather in th changing colors and structure of the canyons. Big horn sheep, bison and prairie dogs are just some of the wildlife that take residence in this special park located in the middle of the Northern Great Plains (and spanning almost 245,000 acres at that). We urge you to carve out time to make a trip here in your lifetime.
As an added bonus, you can do a helicopter tour to explore the canyons for relatively cheap ($100 and less) - you'll see a ton of signs advertising such as you get closer
