Hot Dog Johnny's has been a family favorite + tradition of ours for over fifty years and in that time it's only grown more beloved and more famous. This classic roadside Hot Dog Stand, located in Buttzville, NJ, serves a clear cut menu of hot dogs, fries, birch beer and buttermilk. It has been a family owned business since 1944 and is a landmark for anyone traveling the area (and one we were sure to include on our cross country road trip). Their hot dogs are cooked in peanut oil and hit the spot every.damn.time. The entire experience can't be beat as the small roadside stand set atop the Pequest River pumps out their famous dogs + fries for diners to enjoy in their classic, homey building. The original hot dog stand that started it all in 1944 sits on the property as well, for diners to enjoy, in addition to a swing set for kids and tables both inside, outside and along the river. Truly, this place could not be higher on our list of hall of famers and is a must stop for anyone that loves a good, cheap hot dog.
